New - HBVL/Kunst tussen de cijfers - ‘FIELDS 2.0 - The Home Stretch' - 2011

Starting tomorrow in the newspaper: Het Belang van Limburg, I'm running the series 'Fields 2.0 - The Home Stretch'. It is a series of  twenty five drawings and all of these put together, will make up an animation with an absurd twist.

The entire thing is exactly one second in duration (twenty five frames) and is build up out of five separate strategies. More info will be in the accompanying short interview that will be in the paper. I will post it here  tomorrow.

The series will run for two to three weeks, so if you want the animation for yourself start collecting..

Field - Zero 2011 (not included in the series)

The animation itself as a video, will be put on here after the series in the paper are finished.

New - Picture Series - Trve Back Metal - 2011

A new line of pictures heavily influenced by metal music (for obvious reasons). I took them at GMM2011. This collection will be an ongoing series that will result in several big photo installations.

The Jackets are items of worship for the people wearing them, they literally wear their pride on their sleeves. The 'back patch' is usually the band they are most into, surrounded by the other smaller patches, of related bands. A lot of work goes into these worship objects, and it fascinates me how carefully they are thought out, and crafted. It reminds me of how I would work on a drawing, sculpture, or my own jacket.

I am currently looking for funds to have them printed professionally and the first installment will (probably) be on display at the VONK exhibition later this year in combination with several other works regarding this theme.

More info on this soon.

New video online

"Conversations - 'Shorty's always right..' - One/scene three" (2011)

(film still)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epntm-fTW7A&feature=channel_video_title

Work I made for the GYM5 exhibit at the MAD gallery, Hasselt, Belgium.

The purpose of the work is -much like with a book- that you as the viewer/reader are given the story, and should make up the scene in your imagination. The viewer chooses what the character and the surroundings look like.

This is the first work in a series called "Conversations". The overall setup will be the same, a conversation between two -or more- people, but the way of presentation will vary to accommodate the space or the exhibition as a whole.

Expo - SOUSVOIR - 14/15, 21/22, 28/29 May, Hoegaarden

The Sousvoir exhibition opened today, and will be running for the next three week-ends. The works on display are two new installations, the first: "Heliantus Annuus - Drone Field Repetition" (2011) is a big room filling work that includes sculpture, objects, sound and light.

The second one: "White Metal Series / Icon one -  Excavation of Modern Tirany" (2011), is a light installation mounted on the chapel wall. The work consists of a series of fluorescent lights that make up one big triangular figure and is the first in a series of this kind of work.

Do to technical problems, the video: "Guardian of Misanthropy (That Unbearable Sight)" will not be on display. The overlapping title that embodies the two works as a whole is "Haunting the Chapel, and gives away one of the influences that were incorporated into the installations.

Pictures coming soon.

Text - P.O.V. - GYM05 - May 2011

P.O.V.

Twee meerduidige visies komen samen.

Point(s) Of View.

Expo SOUSVOIR - Extended catalogue text: "Take the church, Haunt the chapel"

(How and why, organised religion should be replaced by modern aesthetics)

It should be common knowledge, that organised religion has been a torn in the side of modern man and his god given right to move forward in life. What has kept and is still keeping him back, is the fear of god present in his heart. Or better said, the fear of loss of this abstract idea that he holds so dear. The loss of this, means that he would be in total control of himself and his actions. Instead of embracing this gift, he rather chooses to stay ignorant and shackled to idiotic believes.

"Believe is the death of intelligence. As soon as one believes a doctrine of any sort, or assumes certitude, one stops thinking about that aspect of existence."  (Robert A. Wilson)

The doctrine that has been handed down through the ages, has kept him trapped in the dark ages for centuries. Even today "modern religion" meddles in matter that is so far from their  meticulous made up beds, that the outcome of their "ways of thinking" harm modern society in ways that are more devastating than the viruses they choose not to battle.

Our task as modern thinking men, should be to erase all form and traces of religion. Not by burning them (as our Norwegian colleagues) but by replacing them with constructive modern thoughts and actions, until the house of god is no more.

"Take the church, Haunt the chapel!"

Expo - SOUSVOIR - 14/15, 21/22, 28/29 May, Hoegaarden

The exhibition will run for three week-ends. The location where my work will be put on display is the St.- Servaes Chapel, in Rommersom/Hoegaarden (picture: see below)

The exhibition will consist of a new sculptural installation: "Heliantus Annuus - Drone Field Repitition", that leans heavily on form and sound. This in combination with a big light installation: "Untitled" (for now) and a video: "Guardian of Misanthropy (that unbearable sight)". The works will connect into one big installation that has the overlapping title of "Haunting The Chapel".
